The Challenge

Career development is a process that everyone needs to learn as they enter their education and later to navigate the world of work and successfully manage their careers. The need for a 24/7, free comprehensive online career development resource was identified by the Community College Chancellor's Office Career Development Statewide Advisory Committee. The website was developed in response to this need.

The Solution contains comprehensive career development resources including videos and student activities that can be used by students, counselors/career professionals, and faculty. The website helps students identify their strengths, talents, interests and educational options, and allows them to explore career opportunities and get connected to employers looking for qualified employees. The website offers lessons to guide students through a sequential college/career planning process and introduces them to the soft skills employers expect in new hires. There are also specific resources available for veterans and entrepreneurs. A companion site for faculty, counselors, and career professionals is available at

Outcomes will help students 1) be able to complete the career decision-making process and declare a career goal to be used in their educational plan; 2) gain career development skills, which they can use throughout their career; and 3) become aware of the skills they need to succeed in college and the workplace. Additionally, veterans and entrepreneurs will be able to access resources related to their unique needs.

The Data

Since was launched in August 2011, it has had 272,530 users; 2 Million page views; and 400,451 user sessions.
